Comparison by Geometry and Wear Protection

Two independent choices define a conveying elbow: the path followed by the material and the wear-protection system exposed to it. Pocket elbows employ a chamber intended to create a local solids cushion. Sweeps turn continuously, while segmented bends use multiple mitered sections. A basalt lining, ceramic lining or hardfaced layer may be incorporated into a pipe-bend geometry subject to engineering feasibility.

Diameter and Angle Availability

The launch scope proposes DN50–DN300 and 45°/90° for cast pocket elbows, and DN50–DN400 with 30°/45°/90° for the five pipe-based product families. The program specifies an intended range, not a statement that every possible combination is approved or in stock.

Body Materials and Lining Options

Pocket bodies are planned in cast carbon steel, cast aluminium and 304-/316-type cast stainless steel. Pipe shells and unlined pipe bends are planned in carbon steel, AISI 304 and AISI 316. Basalt, ceramic and hardfacing options add independent contact-layer specifications. Review materials.

Available Connection Methods

Pocket elbows are flanged only. Pipe-based elbows may be supplied with straight pipe ends or flanged ends. DIN/EN and ANSI/ASME are families of interface standards; exact flange dimensions, facing, bolt pattern, material and complete assembly rating must be confirmed. Connection guide.

Candidate common catalog for the five pipe-based families. Manufacturing and lining feasibility not yet approved. All dimensions in millimetres.

The above is a proposed radius schedule for pipe-based families. Pocket elbows are specified by their chamber and connection offsets instead. Segmented bends need separate drawings to show the true mitered profile.

Selection Considerations by Material

Abrasive Powders and Minerals

Compare actual impact and sliding wear, flow conditions and wear life evidence. A hard internal surface can be appropriate but the best design depends on particle shape, velocity and process cycles.

Plastic Pellets and Fragile Granules

Particle breakage, streamers, local temperature and accumulated material may be more important than maximum surface hardness. Compare fines, pressure and changeover behavior as well as wear.

Food and Chemical Products

Contact-material compatibility, cleaning access and documented hygiene requirements may exclude certain chambers, surface finishes or liners. Never infer food-contact suitability merely from the word stainless steel.
