Basalt-Lined Wear-Resistant Pneumatic Conveying Pipe Bends

Review the complete basalt-lined pipe bends content below. All specifications and product claims remain subject to approval before publication.

Basalt Wear-Liner Construction

Basalt-based internal protection is considered where conveyed solids wear through conventional metal piping. A wear-resistant basalt contact layer is carried by an outer structural pipe. The liner must be evaluated as part of the assembly: its formation, thickness, bonding or mechanical retention and end transitions all affect reliability.

The exact PneuBend production method—fused cast basalt components, formed segments or another approved basalt system—will be stated after manufacturing qualification. This distinction is important because different constructions require different drawings and process limits.

Sizes DN50–DN400

The proposed nominal connection range is DN50–DN400. The finished internal bore after lining may be smaller than the base pipe’s initial bore. Selection therefore starts with required conveying area and mating pipe sizes, not external casing diameter alone.

Available 30°, 45° and 90° Deflections

A lined pipe bend must preserve the designed flow direction and avoid abrupt internal projections at joints or transitions. Each angle requires a drawing identifying liner sections and the final installation envelope.

Candidate common catalog for the five pipe-based families. Manufacturing and lining feasibility not yet approved. All dimensions in millimetres.

This schedule is provisional. Liner manufacture, segment dimensions and clearance at small CLR may rule out some combinations. The historic DN150 basalt examples at R600 and R1000 provide reference configurations, but do not confirm the entire schedule.

Carbon Steel, 304 and 316 Metal Housings

Proposed structural shell options are carbon steel, AISI 304 and AISI 316. The outer shell material addresses pressure containment, external corrosion and connection requirements; it does not replace evaluation of the basalt layer in contact with solids.

Lining Thickness and Finished Bore

Liner Geometry and Joints

Specify actual liner thickness, joints, gaps and any backing material. Joint transitions must not form unintended high-impact edges. Dimensional inspection should record the minimum clear bore at the inlet, outlet and through the bend.

Retention, Temperature and Impact

The assembly rating depends on the shell, liner, attachment system, seals and operating conditions. A high temperature capability of an individual hard material is not necessarily the allowable limit of its bond or the full elbow.

Flanged and Straight Pipe-End Versions

Proposed connections are plain pipe ends, applicable EN/DIN flange patterns or ANSI/ASME patterns. Any liner-to-connection step must be coordinated with the adjacent pipeline to avoid local wear.

Application and Inspection Guidance

This family may be evaluated for abrasive mineral powders, cementitious materials and other compatible dry solids. Large particles, shock loading, thermal cycling, moisture and cleaning chemicals require special consideration. The inspection program should account for both the shell and internal lining.
