Pneumatic Conveying Elbows for Cement and Fly Ash
Review the complete cement & fly ash content below. All specifications and product claims remain subject to approval before publication.
Conveying Characteristics
Cement and fly ash are commonly handled as fine powders, but they should not be treated as identical materials. Particle size distribution, mineral composition, moisture, aeration behavior and the actual conveying regime can differ widely. A line operating in dilute phase may expose elbows to different impact conditions than a dense-phase arrangement, and the operating conditions may change during startup or blowdown.
Abrasive Wear and Impact
Repeated particle impacts can concentrate wear near the outer arc of a curved bend or at the exit of a compact elbow. A smooth appearance from outside does not reveal the true internal wear pattern. Where possible, record wall loss, conveyed tonnes and adjacent downstream erosion rather than simply reporting calendar life.
Potential Bend and Liner Choices
Basalt and Ceramic-Lined Bends
A hard internal lining is worth evaluating when the wear mechanism is dominated by abrasion. Confirm the expected impact severity, liner joints and temperature/cleaning limits. Basalt-lined bends · Ceramic-lined bends.
Tungsten Carbide Hardfacing
A weld-applied wear layer is another candidate where its deposition method, coverage and metallurgical compatibility can be qualified. The final bore and any surface transitions must be checked. Hardfaced bends.
Pocket and Conventional Geometries
Pocket-type and sweep designs redistribute particle contact differently. For a powder that can cake or hold moisture, any region of retained material requires special evaluation before selecting a pocket configuration.
Sizes, Radii and Wear Inspection
Measure the finished bore required by the conveying process and confirm the mating pipe OD. A long-radius option may occupy more space and may move wear downstream; changing radius alone does not guarantee longer life. Inspection access and replacement planning are part of the lifecycle cost.
Request an Application Review
Provide cement or ash grade, throughput, pipe and bend dimensions, conveying gas, operating pressure, temperature, solids loading if known and photographs of wear. Record service life in operating hours or conveyed tonnes. Submit details.
